2026 Discover Boating New York Boat Show, in partnership with Progressive

Your kids can say goodbye to cabin fever and instead say “Ahoy!” to being captain for the day at the 2026 Discover Boating New York Boat Show (Jan 21-25). Make core memories with your family as you hop aboard hundreds of boats (luxury yachts included!), and melt away those summer blues while getting the best summer inspiration. Kids can enjoy making their own toy boat and flex their fishing skills in a special ball-pit pond. Plus, parents can kick back with food and drinks while little skippers enjoy the beach games and nusic at the Discover Boating Beach Club.Kids 12 and under always get in FREE when accompanied by a paid adult.

The Chocolate Makery @ The Jewish Children’s Museum

2026 Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show

Gov­er­nors Island Arts presents the fifth annu­al Gov­er­nors Island Ice Sculp­ture Show on Feb­ru­ary 7, 2026. Ten artists will be paired with a pro­fes­sion­al ice carv­er from Okamo­to Stu­dio dur­ing the free pub­lic event, where vis­i­tors are invit­ed to wit­ness this real-time ice carv­ing. The Ice Sculp­ture Show will also fea­ture ice carv­ing work­shops from Okamo­to Stu­dio, a DJ set from Miss Ali­cia with sound by Kar­lala Soundsys­tem, and more activ­i­ties for vis­i­tors. Mak­i­na Café will be open in Colonels Row along­side addi­tion­al food trucks with win­ter-themed treats.

Lunar New Year: Art of Chinese Dance

The Year of the Horse is here! Celebrate the Lunar New Year in style with MPA, Brooklyn Public Library, and the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company for an interactive dance experience featuring dazzling costumes and eye-catching props, plus crafts and fun for the whole family! The 2026 Year of the Horse program from Nai-Ni Chen is a lively, interactive dance experience that invites young audiences to discover the richness and diversity of Chinese culture through movement, music, and storytelling as the artists guide students on a journey across regions and traditions—explaining how geography, history, and community celebrations shape classical and folk dance forms. The performance is narrated by the dancers, who demonstrate foundational techniques and cultural context in an age-appropriate, engaging way.
