Human Anatomy + Figure Sketching for Teens

For ages 9-12 yrs

Figure drawing is the art of sketching the human figure to capture the essence of the human body's musculature, texture, and postures. This class will help you hone observational skills and master techniques in form, value, shading, and perspective.

• Study the human figure in action and in dynamic poses and compositions, unusual angles like upshots or extreme close ups.

• Learn how to depict anatomical features and drapery in clothing.

• In this class we will work from pictures and photographs.

• We will work in charcoal, pencils, pastels, and inks.

• In a few short weeks, develop confidence in your sketching.

This is a great skill to put into practice for anyone thinking about a career in the visual arts and a useful tool to have in foundation art before moving on to painting people.
