Holi Celebration with The Culture Tree

Holi is a joyful festival that has been celebrated across the Indian subcontinent for centuries to mark the arrival of spring after winter. Known as the Festival of Colors, it symbolizes renewal, friendship, and the triumph of joy over darkness. Today, Holi is celebrated around the world as a way to welcome spring, embrace inclusivity, and express happiness through music, dance, and vibrant colors. Join us for a festive Holi celebration designed especially for children and families with the Culture Tree!
Read aloud: Kahani Rangeeli (A Colorful Story) with Anu Sehgal of the Culture Tree

Author Anu Sehgal, founder of The Culture Tree, will lead a bilingual (Hindi–English) storytime reading of her book Kahani Rangeeli (A Colorful Story), introducing young readers to the meaning and magic of Holi.
Performance and Workshop: Flute and Dance with Mukund Rao & Meha Sedan

Following the story, children will participate in an interactive flute workshop with Mukund Rao, learning about Lord Krishna and the music he is said to have played thousands of years ago. Dancer Meha Sedan will then bring the festival to life with a performance set to popular Holi songs, followed by a fun, easy-to-follow dance workshop for kids.

Explore the vibrant colors of Holi! Glue pieces of tissue to a piece of paper to create a colorful collage.
Read-Aloud & Workshop in partnership with BROOKLYNBIHARN: Happy Hippotastic Holi! How to Celebrate with Consent

Join us for a special read-aloud and workshop with author Geshu Sugandh & illustrator Natasha B. Padhiar. Geshu will read her new book, Happy Hippotastic Holi! How to Celebrate with Consent. Then, participants have the opportunity to decorate a hippo headband inspired by the characters of the story and purchase a signed copy of the book.
Alphie’s Goodbye Storytime: Festival of Colors by Kabir Sehgal and Surishta Sehgal
